At our quarterly business conference, church members voted by a margin of 3-1 to close the church. I believe (as well as many of the members) that we have fulfilled our purpose and task of ministry for SLRBC that God had intended for us. The Lord blessed His church through the years and now he has led us to this time of completion. Although the Church building will be closed at the end of September, our work and ministry as individuals will continue as we move forward in our lives and make adjustments from the “routine” to the new adventure.
God has a plan for each of you and His plan includes a new church home where you can continue to grow spiritually and also be active and involved as a new member who can encourage others in their growth and maturity as well as assist your new church in its ministries. We have always had a strong “Core-Group” here at SLRBC and I know that you can be used just as wonderfully and mightily as you adjust to the new adventure.
I want to suggest that as you attend other churches, first of all I hope you find a Southern Baptist Church. I realize that Southern Baptists aren’t the only church nor are we the perfect denomination. However I pray that you will find a “Doctrinally Sound” local church where:
I realize that basically all churches will be a little different than SLRBC and that can be a good thing. So don’t measure every church by SLRBC but by the work of the Spirit in you and the above points. God is not finished with you or me… there is still much work to be done for the Kingdom of God until Jesus comes to take us home.
“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:15-17 (NASB)
Remember, we are to lift up Jesus in all we do because it is for His glory that we serve and minister. The adventure is ahead of us and not behind us. What lies ahead is the journey God has for you and me. Keep your chin up and faithfully stay the course in your new adventure!
Joyfully serving Jesus and you,
Bro. Randy
